Een Amerikaanse korporaal dobbert tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog in een rubberboot over de Grote Oceaan. Hij strandt op een eiland. De enige andere mens daar is een non. Al snel komen er Japanners om het eiland te bombarderen en te bezetten.
