Peter Straub (Milwaukee (Wisconsin), 2 maart 1943 – Manhattan (New York), 4 september 2022) was een Amerikaanse schrijver van hoofdzakelijk horror- en andere bovennatuurlijke verhalen. Gedurende zijn carrière heeft hij diverse prestigieuze prijzen gewonnen, zoals de World Fantasy Award (1989) en viermaal de Bram Stoker Award (1993, 1999, 2003, 2004). Bij het grote publiek is Straub mogelijk het bekendst van zijn samenwerking met collega Stephen King, met wie hij de boeken De Talisman (1984) en Zwart Huis (2001) schreef.

Straub overleed op 79-jarige leeftijd door complicaties na het breken van een heup.[1][2]
