Doug Roberts werkt op het marinebevoorradingsschip U.S.S. Reluctant tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Hij wil meer deel uitmaken van de oorlog, maar hij kan maar geen vrije tijd vinden. Bovendien zitten er andere mensen op zijn nek.
