Edmund John Millington Synge (16. april 1871 – 24. mart 1909) bio je irski dramatičar, pjesnik, prozaik te sakupljač irskog narodnog blaga. Poznat je i kao osnivač teatra Abbey gdje je prvi put izvedena njegova drama The Playboy of the Western World. Opus mu je često bio predmetom napada od irskih nacionalista koji su držali da svojim prikazom ruralne svakodnevnice blati irski narod kao primitivne barbare.
