William Farnum (4 Juli 1876 – 5 Juni 1953) adalah aktor panggung berkebangsaan Amerika Serikat.

Latar belakang

Satu di antara tiga bersaudara, Farnum tumbuh dari keluarga aktor. Dia mengawali debut keaktorannya pada usia sepuluh tahun di Richmond, Virginia dalam produksi Julius Caesar, bersama Edwin Booth dengan memainkan sebagai Julius Caesar.

Kesuksesan utamanya ketika dia bermain dalam Ben-Hur tahun 1900 meskipun menggantikan pemeran asli, aktor Edward Morgan. Penampilan Farnum selanjutnya adalah sebagai sebagai costume epic dalam The Prince of India (1906), The White Sister (1909) membintangi Viola Allen, The Littlest Rebel (1911) turut membintang bersama kakaknya Dustin dan aktris cilik Mary Miles Minter (usia sembilan tahun) dan Arizona (1913) bersama Dustin dan Elsie Ferguson. Dalam The Spoilers tahun 1914, Farnum dan Tom Santschi bermain dalam film klasik tentang pertempuran. Tahun 1930, Farnum dan Santschi melatih Gary Cooper dan William Boyd dalam adegan pertempuran untuk versi tahun 1930 dari The Spoilers. Farnum meninggal karena uremia dan kanker pada 5 Juni 1953 di Cedars of Lebanon Hospital.[2][3] Dia dikebumikan di Forest Lawn Memorial Park Glendale, California.[4]

Pada tanggal 8 Februari 1960, Farnum menerima bintang Hollywood Walk of Fame atas kontribusinya di industri layar lebar, pada 6322 Hollywood Boulevard.[5][6]

Dia merupakan adik termuda dari aktor film Dustin Farnum. Kakak lainnya, Marshall Farnum, yang menjadi sutradara film bisu yang meninggal tahun 1917.
