Konsekuensi yang tidak diinginkan

Sebuah lahan erosi di Australia yang disebabkan oleh gundulnya tanah akibat rumput habis dimakan kelinci, sebuah dampak yang tak diharapkan setelah kelinci dilepaskan di sana sebagai hewan buruan.

Dalam ilmu sosial, konsekuensi yang tidak diinginkan atau dampak yang tidak diharapkan adalah hasil dari tindakan yang tak diinginkan atau diperkirakan. Istilah tersebut dipopulerkan pada abad kedua puluh oleh pakar sosiologi Amerika Serikat Robert K. Merton.[1]
