The "Transvaalse Volkslied"[1] (English: "Transvaal National Anthem", lit. 'Transvaal people's song') was the national anthem of the South African Republic, also known as the Transvaal Republic or "Transvaal" for short. It was written and composed by Catharina van Rees in 1875,[2] and was presented to president Thomas Burgers during his 1875 visit to Europe.[3]
